Turmeric

Turmeric in Trimoryn: 15 mg of a 95 Percent Curcumin Extract, Evidence and Cautions

Quick answer

Turmeric extract, standardized to 95 percent curcumin, is 15 mg of each Trimoryn capsule. NCCIH says many studies exist but we do not know enough to conclude that turmeric or curcumin is beneficial for any health purpose, and no weight claim is supported. MSK says it may raise bleeding risk with blood thinners.

The ingredient01

What is turmeric extract?

Turmeric is a golden-yellow root used in curry and in traditional medicine, and curcumin is its best-known active compound.

The label lists "Turmeric Extract (95% Curcumin)", so the extract is concentrated far beyond the spice in a kitchen jar. The spice holds only a few percent curcumin. Curcumin is poorly absorbed on its own, which is why many products add black pepper extract or special forms. The Trimoryn label names none of those.

Dose02

How much turmeric extract is in one Trimoryn capsule?

One capsule holds 15 mg of turmeric extract, which at 95 percent curcumin is about 14 mg of curcumin.

Studies of curcumin usually give hundreds of milligrams to grams a day. We did not find one that matches 15 mg. NCCIH discusses highly bioavailable curcumin products and notes that the studies are many but the evidence does not settle any purpose 1. At this small amount, we cannot link the line to a study result, and we do not.

Evidence03

Does turmeric extract help with weight? What does the research show?

NCCIH says turmeric is promoted for conditions such as osteoarthritis, depression and high cholesterol, and that we do not know enough to conclude it is beneficial for any health purpose 1.

That is the strongest honest summary. MSK says human evidence across many conditions is mixed 2. Neither source lists weight management as an established use. So, for the purpose on this label, the evidence is absent rather than negative. Absence is not a ban. It means we have nothing to support the line other than its place in a traditional spice.

Safety04

Is turmeric extract safe? What should you watch for?

The main cautions are bleeding risk with blood thinners and liver reports with concentrated products.

MSK says turmeric may increase the risk of bleeding if you take warfarin or other blood thinners, and may lessen the effect of some chemotherapy medicines 2. NCCIH covers safety for concentrated curcumin products 1. At 15 mg, the risk is likely small, but the label gives no safety margin and we cannot assume it. Tell your clinician before surgery, and tell any anticoagulant clinic.

Marketing05

Why is turmeric extract sold in weight and wellness products?

Turmeric is sold for inflammation and wellness, and its golden color makes a good story.

A lot of research has been done on curcumin, and marketers often cite its volume as if it were its proof. Volume is not a verdict. In a weight product, turmeric usually plays the role of a recognizable name that adds an "anti-inflammatory" glow. The label itself makes no such claim, which is to its credit.

In the capsule06

What does turmeric extract add to Trimoryn, and what does it not?

Turmeric adds a recognized plant name at a small amount, and a bleeding-risk note for some readers.

It is one of the smaller lines, and one where the evidence for the Trimoryn purpose is absent. Taken at face value, it is unlikely to drive anything the capsule does. If you are on a blood thinner, it is the line to ask about, along with resveratrol. If you simply like the flavor, the spice in food is a gentler and cheaper way to meet it, and a cook's pinch is nothing like a concentrated extract.

Compared07

Where does turmeric extract sit among the other Trimoryn lines?

Each Trimoryn line has its own printed amount, so you can see how turmeric extract compares in weight with the rest.

Bars are drawn to the largest milligram line, 100 mg. Hover or focus a row to light it. Probiotic bars are symbolic, since CFU is a count of bacteria and not a weight. Weight on the panel is not the same as importance, and a small line can matter more for safety than a large one.

Ask first08

What should you ask before taking turmeric extract?

Ask whether turmeric, even in small amounts, is acceptable with your blood thinner or planned procedure.

  • Should I tell my anticoagulant clinic about this supplement?
  • Do I need to stop it before surgery or dental work?
  • Do I take another turmeric product?

FAQ09

Trimoryn questions people ask

What is curcumin?

Curcumin is the main yellow compound in turmeric. The label says Turmeric Extract (95% curcumin), so most of the 15 mg is curcumin.

Does turmeric help weight?

The sources we read support no weight claim. NCCIH says we do not know enough to say turmeric helps any health purpose.

Is turmeric safe for the liver?

NCCIH has a safety section on concentrated products, and liver injury reports exist. Ask your doctor if you have liver disease.

Does turmeric thin the blood?

MSK says turmeric may raise bleeding risk if you take warfarin or other blood thinners.

Is 15 mg of curcumin enough to matter?

Studies usually used far larger amounts. We cannot say what 15 mg does and we do not claim an effect.

Can I take turmeric before surgery?

Tell your surgeon about every supplement. Supplements can affect bleeding and anesthesia.
