Cinnamon bark
Cinnamon Bark in Trimoryn: 100 mg of a 10:1 Extract, Coumarin and Dose Gaps
Cinnamon bark extract 10:1 is 100 mg of each Trimoryn capsule. Pooled trials found fat-mass effects at 2 g a day or more for 12 weeks or longer, much more than the label holds. NCCIH says research does not clearly support cinnamon for any health condition. Cassia cinnamon holds coumarin, linked to liver effects, and the label does not say which type it uses.

The ingredient01
What is cinnamon bark extract?
Cinnamon is the dried inner bark of a tree, and two kinds dominate shops: cassia, which is cheap and common, and Ceylon, which is milder and costlier.
The label says "Cinnamon Bark Extract 10:1", and it does not say which kind. That is the most important missing fact on this line, because the two kinds differ in coumarin. NCCIH says cassia contains coumarin, that interactions with the liver have been reported, and that some cassia products carry more of it 1.
Dose02
How much cinnamon bark extract is in one Trimoryn capsule?
One capsule holds 100 mg of a 10:1 extract, which may stand for up to about 1 g of bark if the ratio is exact, though the label does not say so.
The pooled trials we found used 2 g a day or more, and that dose for 12 weeks or longer was where fat mass fell 2. If a 10:1 extract truly equals 1 g of bark, the capsule holds about half the low end of the studied range. If the label means 100 mg of the extract itself, it is far less. A 20-fold gap or a 2-fold gap, either way it is below the studied range.

Evidence03
Does cinnamon bark extract help with weight? What does the research show?
Twelve trials, 786 people, pooled: body weight -1.02 kg, BMI -0.51 kg per square meter and waist -2.4 cm, with fat mass falling at 2 g a day or more 2.
That is a small average difference, with wide uncertainty, and from products and doses unlike this capsule. NCCIH says cinnamon is promoted for diabetes and weight loss, but that research does not clearly support using it for any health condition, and that it is unclear whether supplements help diabetes or weight loss 1. MSK says possible benefits for blood sugar and blood fats need larger trials 3.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Pooled body weight change | -1.02 kg |
| Dose where fat mass fell | 2 g a day or more, 12 weeks plus |
| Label amount | 100 mg of 10:1 extract |
| Cinnamon type on label | Not stated |
Safety04
Is cinnamon bark extract safe? What should you watch for?
The main cautions are coumarin and the liver, and blood sugar if you take diabetes medicine.
NCCIH advises caution because cassia contains coumarin 1. If you have liver disease, drink alcohol often or take medicine that stresses the liver, ask your doctor first. Yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain or deep tiredness are reasons to stop and call. For blood sugar, MSK says to tell your care team about every supplement you take 3.
Marketing05
Why is cinnamon bark extract sold in weight and wellness products?
Cinnamon is sold for blood sugar and weight because it is familiar, cheap and has a long history as a spice and remedy.
A kitchen spice feels safe, and that feeling does most of the selling. The studies behind the claims used much larger amounts than a pinch, and the results were small and mixed. A "10:1" ratio on a label also sounds like strength. It is a statement about manufacturing, so do not read it as ten times stronger.

What does cinnamon bark extract add to Trimoryn, and what does it not?
Cinnamon adds a plant extract below the studied dose, and the unknown cinnamon type adds a question mark.
It is one of the lines most likely to raise a safety question for people with liver trouble or diabetes treatment, and one of the lines with the clearest shortfall against research doses. If you want cinnamon for taste, the spice on your food is a better-known exposure. If you want an effect on weight, the evidence does not show this capsule delivers one.

Where does cinnamon bark extract sit among the other Trimoryn lines?
Each Trimoryn line has its own printed amount, so you can see how cinnamon bark extract compares in weight with the rest.
Bars are drawn to the largest milligram line, 100 mg. Hover or focus a row to light it. Probiotic bars are symbolic, since CFU is a count of bacteria and not a weight. Weight on the panel is not the same as importance, and a small line can matter more for safety than a large one.

Ask first08
What should you ask before taking cinnamon bark extract?
Ask the seller which cinnamon it is, and ask your doctor whether it suits your liver and blood sugar.
- Is the cinnamon cassia or Ceylon, and what is its coumarin content?
- Does it matter for my liver tests or medicines?
- Do I already use cinnamon supplements?
FAQ09
Trimoryn questions people ask
Is Trimoryn cinnamon cassia or Ceylon?
The label does not say. Cassia holds more coumarin, so ask the seller which type it is.
What is coumarin?
Coumarin is a natural compound in cassia cinnamon. NCCIH says interactions with the liver have been reported, so ask your doctor if you have liver problems.
How much cinnamon did studies use?
The pooled review saw fat-mass effects at 2 g a day or more for 12 weeks or longer. The label has 100 mg of a 10:1 extract.
Does cinnamon lower blood sugar?
MSK says evidence suggests possible benefits but results are mixed, and NCCIH says research does not clearly support its use for any condition.
Can I take cinnamon with diabetes medicine?
Ask first. Cinnamon is studied for blood sugar, and an added effect on your medicine is possible.
What does 10:1 mean for cinnamon?
About ten parts of bark are used to make one part of extract, so 100 mg may stand for up to about 1 g of bark. The label does not confirm that.
