Reading a 10:1 Ratio on a Supplement Label Without the Guesswork
A 10:1 extract means about ten parts of raw plant went in for each part of finished powder. It describes the starting material, not how strong or active the capsule is. On Trimoryn, cinnamon bark extract 10:1 is listed at 100 mg a capsule.

Plain words01
What does 10:1 extract actually mean?
It means a maker began with roughly ten units of raw plant to get one unit of extract. The first number is the starting weight, and the second is the finished amount.
Think of making a strong tea and boiling it down. Ten cups of tea might leave one cup of thick syrup. The syrup is more concentrated than the tea, but the ratio does not tell you what is dissolved in it. On the Trimoryn panel, the line reads cinnamon bark extract 10:1 at 100 mg. You can see all the lines on the Supplement Facts page.
The arithmetic02
How do you read the math?
Multiply the amount by the first number for a rough raw-material figure. Treat the answer as a guide, not a measurement.
| Label wording | Amount in capsule | Rough raw plant at the start |
|---|---|---|
| Cinnamon bark extract 10:1 | 100 mg | About 1,000 mg (1 g) |
| Prickly pear extract 4:1 | 100 mg | About 400 mg |
| Turmeric extract (95% curcumin) | 15 mg | Ratio not printed |
The last row shows a different way to label strength, by the share of one compound. A ratio and a percent answer different questions.
Limits03
Why is a ratio not the same as strength?
A ratio counts what went in. It says nothing about how much of any one compound came out.
Two makers can both write 10:1 and still end up with different powders. The plant part, the time of harvest, the solvent and the drying all change the result. A third-party number, such as a percent of one marker compound, tells you more about strength. The NIH notes that a "standardized", "verified" or "certified" label does not necessarily guarantee product quality or consistency 1. The FDA also says supplements need no approval before sale 2.
- A ratio is a starting-weight guide.
- Yield can differ between makers.
- No ratio names a safe or useful dose.
- The label does not print a test result for this line.

What can you ask a brand about an extract?
Ask for the plant part, the species, the solvent, the marker compound and a lab report for the lot.
Name the species
For cinnamon, cassia and Ceylon differ in coumarin 3.
Ask for a marker test
A percent of a named compound is easier to check than a ratio.
Ask for the lot report
A report with a lot number is better than a general badge.

What does this mean for a buying choice?
Use the ratio as one clue, then read the rest of the label and the cautions.
Keep taking prescribed medicine, ask a pharmacist about interactions, and read the checkout total and refund terms before paying. No source tested Trimoryn, so a ratio alone is not a reason to buy.

FAQ06
Trimoryn questions people ask
Is 10:1 stronger than 4:1?
It started from more raw plant per unit of powder, but that does not prove it has more of any active compound.
Does a higher ratio mean a better supplement?
No. Species, part, solvent and testing all matter, and a ratio shows none of them.
Where do I see the extract ratio on a bottle?
It sits beside the ingredient name on the Supplement Facts panel, as in cinnamon bark extract 10:1.
Can I turn extract milligrams back into spice?
Only roughly. Use the first number as a guide and do not treat it as a dose rule.
