Turmeric, Turmeric Extract and Curcumin: Three Words, Three Different Things
Turmeric is the root and spice. Curcumin is one compound inside it. A turmeric extract (95% curcumin) is a concentrated powder made to hold mostly that compound. Trimoryn lists 15 mg of that extract per capsule, so it is closer to a curcumin product than to the kitchen spice.

What is the difference between turmeric and curcumin?
Turmeric is the whole root, dried and ground. Curcumin is one of several compounds that give it its yellow color.
Curcumin makes up only a small share of the spice by weight. A product that is standardized to 95% curcumin has been refined until nearly all the powder is that one compound. The NCCIH discusses turmeric and curcumin together, and says it does not know enough to conclude either is beneficial for any health purpose 1. So the two words are linked, but they are not stand-ins for each other.

How does the Trimoryn label use the words?
It prints turmeric extract (95% curcumin) at 15 mg. That is the extract, and the bracket says how concentrated it is.
So 15 mg of powder holds a little over 14 mg of curcumin if the claim holds for the lot. The label does not print a test report, and the panel shows no black pepper extract or other absorption aid. The Supplement Facts page lists every other line.

Does it matter which word a seller uses?
Yes. A bottle that says turmeric on the front may hold a different amount of curcumin than one that says curcumin.
Read the panel, not the front. Check the percent, the amount and the part of the plant. A "standardized" label does not necessarily guarantee quality or consistency 2. And a study of turmeric spice cannot be used to judge an extract, or the other way round.

What are the cautions for either form?
Blood thinners and cancer treatment are the main ones, plus the liver for concentrated products.
